Cancer Care Cards for Black Women
Cancer Care Cards for Black Women: Journaling cards for grounding, clarity and self-care.
A project within The Visibility Project
Cancer Care Cards for Black Women is a 42-card illustrated deck in development, created to support and uplift Black women navigating life after a breast cancer diagnosis. Rooted in reflection, healing and care, each card offers visual and emotional companionship for the complex, often unseen realities of survivorship.
This deck extends the mission of The Visibility Project, which centers the lives, bodies and experiences of Black women living with and beyond breast cancer; voices too often left out of the visual narrative.
The project is currently on a planned creative pause as I reimagine the artwork with a stronger botanical focus that reflects the themes of healing, resilience and connection to the natural world. Creation of the deck will resume in January 2027.
Completed artwork and project updates will be shared here as the collection continues to grow. Want to follow along or learn the story behind each card? Follow me on instagram @malaikaross_studio or The Visibility Project Substack for updates.
